this is a really delayed post.

they came to my house to film a really strange video. but it's really quite funny; i think sam will upload it soon. luckily mrs ang didnt walk past when we were doing our 'ba xian' thing :P.

PW Outing - the first

PW outing today! The turnout wad kinda (not expected) and (pathetic). Only 6 of us turned up (that is if you count Jierong). Comm sec, please take attendance: Shitty, Karin, Haining, Jierong, Tsewei and Me. Wait! No one's taking attendance! Ah! Our dear secretary was grounded at home.... =(. In the afternoon, Daen and Weeleng joined us.

We had lots of fun!! We played beach vball, which we noobs were trying to hit the ball, which ended up in the wrong direction, and wow-ed at how tsewei handled the ball. Haha.

We went kayaking later and played this ice-n-melt game. Of cos, we had a big big big plan, which was to capsize our president. We tried so hard as jierong tried hard too, to stay on his boat. But in the end, mission accomplished!

We played pool tooo... tried to save on the balls but were spotted. So lau-kui! Haha. Oh... and there was this spot-the-difference games. Despite we had 8 ppl trying to spot the difference, we still cant beat 05S71's high score (they wrote their BIG NAME there... haha). I bet they had like 20 ppl surrounding the machine or smth liddat, or else, how could have they gotten first? But, after many many many many many tries, out best was a mere 3rd. Go find our big name... HCI32SCPW. <-- this IS a code, figure it out. Haha.

Oh, and of cos, we tried to take photos (of ourselves) la! And keeping in mind PUBCO's superior photo-taking skills (since PJs aint around), this was what we got on the first try:

Alas, after a few attempts, we succeeded. It was not easy ok, considering that we took this photo on the moving beach tram. =P



After that, was 3-in-a-photo.





Oh, and the self-named Beach Babes tried to take a babe photo. And me went to ka-chiao them... haha... so it turned out...



After Da En and Weeleng joined us, there was a volleyball show down. It was team CoCo (shitty happily gave that name since we 4 were once from CO... haha) comprising of me-shiity-karin-jierong...

team brazil (tse was wearing a brazil jersey) tsewei-haining-weeleng-daen. And -needless- to say, team CoCo trashed the other team... haha. And they still owe us an ice-cream from New Zealand Natural.

Whee... first time ice-skating and it was a ground-shattering experience (well, that was when I fell, lots of time =P).



Oh, and we wanted to take a pic with snow falling and we did! Budden tsewei and mon left for arcade then =(. And with pubco's incredible photo-taking skills (as seen from national day), these were the best we took before my cam died on me.





Ice-skating was so fun! Ankle hurts now... =P

unnamed magazine

whew. marathon of blocks is finally over.

was thinking of our publication thing... had a few more ideas. please comment/add/reject/critcise anything below. there are A LOT of completely random things.

• The whole idea is to let the students relate more to the content of the magazine. Eg if your friend/you/your CCA/your teacher is in the magazine, you’d probably be interested right?
  
• Layout could be cool. eg if MOCH then since the name is backwards, the magazine could be backwards as well
  
• Name the different sections according to our mag name [we mentioned this before]. Eg if CSI [I quite like it actually] then we can have “evidence” “crime scene” etc. Btw how’s ‘CSI: HwaChong’ for an extension to the name? Cos they have like ‘CSI: Las Vegas’ and stuff
  
• Article about teachers to get the students interested.
  ==> Best teacher ‘competition’. Maybe even in different categories, e.g. best-looking teacher, nicest teacher, best teacher etc. Can pass survey forms to CTs to collaborate
  Interview a teacher [with a sense of humour and lame-ness], asking totally wacko questions
  ==> Tribute to teachers who are leaving eg Ms Keung [bio tutor]
  Encourage people to submit literary works. Maybe even drawings, paintings etc.
  
• Trips like NZ, Mongolia, Europe, Perak: accounts could be more on the informal side. Like talk about the interesting things that happened rather “on day 1 we went to _____. It was fun.” -_-
  
• Feature interesting people.
  ==> interview J2 geniuses who are taking 3 S papers on their ‘secrets to studying’
  ==> interview people leaving HC for things like UWC scholarship
  ==> Interview people like bobo when he comes back regarding overseas attachment [entice the sec 4s to come]
  
• CCAs [maybe selective or small feature on each one, which would be beneficial for the sec 4s as well]: feature those who have competed. Can also include the low profile, non-sports CCAs, eg norvus, HnF, VnR [campfire?]
  
• When we advertise the paying thing we can entice people with the money: 3c per copy X 10 copies per CT X 60CTs = at least 18 bucks.
  
• Open spaces for CCA groups to advertise upcoming events. Not sure if there are any more, eg concerts and stuff. At no cost or at most a nominal sum. We can also advertise welfare room services [maybe welco can come up with a professional looking advert as if it were a shop :P]
  
• If we’re doing the ‘past’ thing: tell people that if they have parents/relatives from hc and wish to do an extensive substantial interview or report or article, we can consider it too [ie for payment].
  
• The food correspondent idea was pretty good. Introduce a good, cheap nearby, not-that-popular-yet place to the students. Maybe we can also evaluate the canteen food, with reports etc from shiqi.
  
• Encouragement notes for the j2s from their respective j1 CTs or CCAs, considering we’ll be publishing in oct.
  
• If we’re selling extra copies, maybe we can get the bookshop auntie to help us [dunno if we must pay her commission], cos more people go in and out of the bookshop all day and people usually browse through the magazines at the door.
  
• If our bubble gabble takes off well, we can quote some thoughts on current issues, pressing school problems and stuff like that.
